Portfolio
The portfolio allows you to keep track of securities you own. It is based on transactions, which means that instead of recording the number of shares you own, you record the transactions that too place. You can record all of your buys, sells and dividends into AST and it will figure out the rest. There is also a feature in AST that allows you to get started quickly by importing your broker's statement. AST support multiple portfolio per user, as well as sharing portfolios between users, for example; if you want to share a portfolio with your investment buddy but you also want to keep your personal portfolio.
There is a section at the top of the portfolio, called the market watch which allows you to keep of different markets or sectors. You can add as many as you like and AST will generate small graphs for them. The section at the bottom, called the diversification summary shows your assert allocation between sectors, markets and risk levels. You can see how your securities did relative to thier respective sectors, markets or risk levels. This information is configured when adding the security to your portfolio.
The above image shows how transactions are recorded. A transaction history is maintained for every security so that you can look back on it or edit it later. The portfolio has full support for multiple currencies. It can display in your local currency, a foriegn currency or a mixed mode.
This image shows a feature of AST called Estimated Cash Flows. AST will examine the dividend payment history of your securities and estimate how much you will be paid in dividends and when you will be paid.
